From our drive to be more environmentally friendly and reduce scrap, Duraflex have introduced a number of initiatives to reduce the amount of waste created during the extrusion process.
The majority of scrap produced is recycled in-house with very little (less than 1%) non-recoverable scrap being sent off-site for recycling in other non critical applications (pipes, conduit, furniture etc). The installation of technical resources has made a significant improvement to the amount of scrap sent off-site for recycling. By removal of the co-extruded gasket from a profile section, the remainder of the section can be re-processed internally.

Duraflex recognise the importance of providing customer confidence through 3rd party monitoring and has therefore achieved all the available and relevant accreditations for our industry. Starting at the top with management systems to ISO9001 and ISO14001, these document the business processes and systems for controlling Quality and Environmental issues.
Both systems operate on the principles of ‘continuous improvement’, an area which is high on the agenda of any BSI/BBA audit. These are followed by the BSI Kitemarks and BBA Certificates for standard and enhanced security fabrication of both windows and doors. The enhanced security accreditations then allow products to be certified to Secured By Design, providing a complete package for the fabricator.
