Achieve Window Energy Rating

For fabricators and installers Energy Rated products will quickly become the ‘norm'. From October 1st 2010 all products must achieve a minimum Energy Rating of ‘C'.

As a result of the forthcoming legislation the Energy Saving Trust will raise their minimum requirement to a ‘B'. This is because they only associate themselves with the top 20% of all products.

Similar to white goods (fridge, washing machines etc) this will continue to increase and over the coming years the minimum will be B, then A and so on.

Furthermore, environmental credentials will/are becoming the ‘norm' and as the Code for Sustainable Homes comes into effect (2016) other factors such as security will have an influence.

The Duraflex Solution

As a result of this, choosing your system supplier has never been so important, for a number of reasons:

  1. Confidence in their ability to invest in manufacturing to ensure all new legislations are achieved and maintained.
  2. Provide technical expertise ensuring customers have the confidence of knowing a dedicated team are there to support and advise them.
  3. Having products that comfortably achieve today's standards, knowing that future developments will allow tomorrow's standards to also be achieved and exceeded.
  4. Cost engineering the right solution for our customers to be competitive.
  5. Understanding customer manufacturing to ensure efficiencies can be maintained.

When comparing Duraflex with the competition there are a number of factors to consider surrounding Energy Products.

  1. Many promote the achieving of ‘A' rating with ‘thermal multi chambered' designs. What you will notice with all these is that they are ‘slim' frames of 30mm or less. This results in the increasing need for add-ons, which in turn means heavier sight lines and longer installation times = more cost.
  2. Duraflex introduced its 70mm multi chambered design in 2000 and more importantly achieve ‘A' ratings with a slim face of 40mm, thus not requiring any add-ons. This also ensures customers stock and manufacture one section only for all their requirements.
  3. A number of system companies have also introduced similar multi-chambered profiles of the years, but none have a complete suite offering Q-lon gasket on all parts as standard. Not only does this product provide excellent thermal and acoustic properties to aid our ratings but it comes with a lifetime guarantee.
  4. Q-lon also ensures ease of glazing, uniform sash sealing and a USP no other system company offers.

Furthermore Duraflex achieves all its Energy Ratings using steel reinforcement, a product with a proven history that ensures strength, performance and peace of mind.

  1. Many promote ‘thermal inserts'. Read the small print as these are only up to certain sizes, after that they recommend ……………………………..steel.
  2. Many system companies promote Lead-free. Duraflex have not only been extruding lead free profile but have also been producing Eco-friendly laminated profiles and been ISO14001 registered for many years and we still achieve and maintain these standards today.
  3. Can all system companies make this claim? Vinyl 2010 was our industry's target for ensuring we show a responsibility to the environment. Duraflex achieved this so why didn't all system companies? There should be no excuses.
  4. Finally support. We are trusted experts in ensuring we have the knowledge and  commitment to ensure our customers can manufacture and sell a product that achieves all their Energy Rating and environmental needs.
