The subject of window energy ratings has dominated the marketplace since before the introduction of Part L last October, and with rising energy costs, it seems consumers are keener than ever to opt for ‘A’ rated windows. But one small change is soon to make another huge impact.
Duraflex are delighted to announce the launch of their new thermal reinforcing. Extensive testing has been carried out on both white and brown substrate, allowing windows upto 2700mm x 1500mm to be reinforced in both substrate finishes. Furthermore, the reinforcements have been tested by the BBA to BSEN6375 to ensure complete quality assurance.
The benefits of the new thermal reinforcing are twofold. The improved U value and energy rated performance ensures that an A rated can be achieved with hardcoated glass. Replacing the steel with thermal reinforcement provides ease of storage and the ability to cut whilst fabricating. As an extra measure, Duraflex offer the reinforcements in either 5 metre lengths (for insertion straight into bar length profile) or through a comprehensive range of ‘cut to length’ sizes.
Dean Cossey, NPD Director for Duraflex explains the reasons behind developing this new product.
“In the case of Duraflex, the performance of the Diamond Suite with full reinforcing generally provides a 5 point increase over fully reinforced steel windows, and a 2 point increase over a partially reinforced window when calculating A rated products*. So whether you work to WER’s or U values, you can use a much wider range of glass specifications whilst still producing an ‘A’ rated window, ideal when your installation or development needs superior performance”
